MESQUITE, TEXAS (January 2019) The thirteenth annual Lone Star Legacy Gala will showcase some of the best American rock songs ever written and performed. Creedence Clearwater Revisited will headline the event on February 23, 2019 at Mesquite Arena. All proceeds benefit Mesquite ISD teachers and students through the funding of innovative educational programs.

“Creedence Clearwater Revival founding members and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Stu Cook and Doug “Cosmo” Clifford have been on quite a ride. Following their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Cosmo and Stu launched their Creedence Clearwater Revisited project in 1995 to once again perform live in concert the hit songs -- touchstones of a generation. Since then, the legendary rhythm section has been thrilled by the outpouring of affection for their new band. World tours and a platinum selling album Recollection followed. The astounding response to the band has been driven in part by new generations of fans that, as Cosmo says, “weren’t even born when the music came out.”

“Fans will enjoy timeless music and some of the most recognizable hit songs ever made. As always, this will be a night of world class entertainment and a celebration of Mesquite ISD’s teacher and students.” Said Randy Lewallyn, Mesquite ISD Education Foundation Executive Director.

"It’s an honor for me and my fellow Board Members to be a part of bringing world class music to Mesquite and north Texas” said David Belt, Board President of the Mesquite ISD Education Foundation. “Creedence Clearwater Revisited will not disappoint and we've tried to provide ticket pricing and table sponsorship options to accommodate anyone that would like to come enjoy the show. As always, the purpose of the event is to support the Mesquite ISD’s amazing teachers and students. We invite you to join us in this effort.”

MESQUITE, TEXAS (January 2018) The twelfth annual Lone Star Legacy Gala will feature the legendary Rock and Roll band The Beach Boys as the headline concert entertainment. The event will be held on February 24, 2018 at Mesquite Arena. All proceeds benefit Mesquite ISD teachers and students through the funding of innovative educational programs.

You can capsulize most pop music acts by reciting how many hits they’ve had and how many millions of albums they’ve sold. But these conventional measurements fall short when you’re assessing the impact of The Beach Boys. This band has birthed a torrent of hit singles and sold albums by the tens of millions. But its greater significance lies in the fact that it changed the musical landscape so profoundly that every pop act since has been in its debt. The Beach Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988, alongside The Beatles, Bob Dylan and the Supremes.

"Having the opportunity to present a legendary band like The Beach Boys to the Mesquite community and north Texas is a true privilege for me and my fellow Mesquite ISD Education Foundation Board Members." said David Belt, Board President of the Mesquite ISD Education Foundation. “We've tried to provide ticket pricing and table sponsorship options to accommodate anyone and everyone that would like to come see a transcendent band like The Beach Boys. The best part of this story is that all proceeds will be used to directly support Mesquite ISD teachers and students. I invite you to come out for a great show for a great cause."

The Lone Star Legacy Gala will be held at Mesquite Arena on February 24, 2018. In addition to a night of great music, the event will feature a live auction as well as a 7-day on-line auction. Table sponsorships are available on the arena floor beginning at $1,000 for a table of eight people. Concert tickets will be sold through Ticketmaster and the Mesquite Arena Box Office beginning January 11. All concert tickets are reserved seating and ticket prices will range from $35 - $80.

Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.” -- Albert Einstein.

The Mesquite ISD Education Foundation has launched an Endowment Campaign in the name of Sue Ann Mackey to ensure that her selfless service to Mesquite ISD will be recognized in perpetuity.

“Few individuals have matched Mrs. Mackey’s passion and dedication to Mesquite ISD’s mission of excellence in education for young people,” said Mesquite ISD Education Foundation Executive Director Randy Lewallyn. “Mrs. Mackey’s life was a model of service. Her love for her family, community and especially Mesquite ISD was a defining characteristic of her life,” Lewallyn said.

Mrs. Mackey, for whom Mackey Elementary School was named in 2004, served as a Mesquite ISD Board Member from 1979 to 1994. Most recently, she was a passionate member of the Mesquite ISD Education Foundation Board and served on the Steering Committee when the Education Foundation was established 10 years ago, Lewallyn said.
