Every year, PRSA Dallas offers a half-day public relations workshop to help nonprofits get ready for end of year giving season and North Texas Giving Day. This event offers nonprofits an opportunity to hone their branding and messaging, media relations, digital marketing and social media skills with tips from the experts —including the media themselves. This event sells out every year, so be sure to register your seat as soon as possible (limit 2 registrations per nonprofit, please).
The 2022 workshop is titled, “The Power of Your Story: Strengthening Your Mission Through Public Relations.”

Session Descriptions:
How to Pitch Media in a Post 2020 Landscape
A panel of North Texas journalists will discuss the short and long-term impact of how COVID-19 changed the way the news is reported and the story opportunities the pandemic unlocked. Session attendees will learn how to connect with local media, what types of nonprofit-related stories journalists are looking to tell, and what nonprofit leaders and public relations practitioners can do to support news coverage of North Texas Giving Day and the other 364 days of the year.
Top Tips for Leveraging Social Media and Quantifying Success
Social media is an ever-changing game that can feel impossible to play. As a nonprofit, it can be a confusing space to navigate, leaving you to wonder if your efforts are moving the needle at all. In this session, we will cover easy-to-use tools that will help you build and measure a solid social strategy. We will discuss photo and video ethics, why each platform is unique, and how to execute a social strategy that works for your organization.
The Future of Strategic Communications: From DE&I to Donor Relations
Competing messages, new technologies and social concerns all contribute to the marketing communications challenges nonprofits face. Developing and executing a strategic communications plan, which addresses everything from DE&I to donor relations, is key to a nonprofit’s ability to fulfill its mission. In this session, you will learn techniques to address the changing communication environment and effectively tell your nonprofit’s story.
