Recycling Fashion Show Marissa Butler models her 2013 Keep Mesquite Beautiful Recycling Fashion Show Entry

Keep Mesquite Beautiful has a full fall calendar of opportunities designed to keep the community environment clean and to educate residents on the importance of recycling.

Trash Bash, which is set for September 13 encourages church, school, and community groups to participate in a litter pickup around Mesquite.  Participants receive a free T-shirt and lunch at the event.

The Recycling Fashion Show is October 18 at Town East Mall.  The event’s theme, the “Great Big Spooky Wooky Costume Contest” hopes to inspire participants to make costumes that can be reused for Halloween.  For the first time ever, businesses or groups of individuals are invited to participate in a new category designed to highlight the best ideas of costumes made from recycled or recyclable materials.

Mesquite Recycles Day will be held Saturday, November 8th.  Residents are invited to this free event to drop-off electronics, clothing, books, printer and ink cartridges, used eye glasses, and personal shredding.  The event will be on the Poteet High Parking lot from 8am to noon.

These and the rest of Keep Mesquite Beautiful’s events and activities can be seen at www.keepmesquitebeautiful.org or by calling the Keep Mesquite Beautiful office.

“Fall is a great time to share our message through activities and events,” said Paige Swiney, Executive Director for Keep Mesquite Beautiful.  “We’re so excited about our lineup of events and look forward to great participation from the community.”
