GOOD GUYS SUMMONED TO TAKE A STAND AGAINST SEX TRAFFICKING
New Friends New Life’s Men’s Group Hosts Community Breakfast
Dallas, Texas - The Men’s Advocacy Group (MAG) of New Friends New Life (NFNL) will host its second annual Men’s Breakfast on Monday, May 6, 2019 at the Dallas Country Club. The event is expected to attract 300 men and women leaders in business, sports, the faith community and civic government to raise awareness about sex trafficking, and highlight how men can stand on behalf of survivors. “Horrifically, traffickers profit an estimated $99 million every year by selling women and girls right here in Dallas,” said Michael K. Hurst, MAG Board Member and Breakfast Chair. “We know Dallas is a community that tackles tough issues and sex trafficking is an injustice that every man can do something about. This breakfast gives us the opportunity to learn how we can be a part of the solution.”
The breakfast’s keynote speaker is educator, filmmaker and author, Jackson Katz, Ph.D., internationally renowned for his activism on issues of gender violence prevention. “We are delighted to welcome Dr. Katz to help attendees connect the dots between gender norms, social theory and gender-based violence,” shared Kim Robinson, Chief Executive Officer of New Friends New Life. “A critical component of combating sex trafficking is changing the conversation around how men view and treat women, and we believe that Dr. Katz will bring an eye-opening perspective that will encourage our men to take a stand.”
