For the next 40 days, Paperbacks Plus at 108 E. Davis Street in downtown will be celebrating at all three used bookstores. We are commemorating the birth of our first full-time used bookstore in Mesquite 40 years ago, Paperbacks Plus. This store was also in the Lakewood area for 35+ years until it moved to this location in 2012, changing to the new name as it did so, while also opening a completely new location in Oak Cliff under the same name. The small building to the right in this photo is where the Mesquite store was until 1976 when we moved next door to the much larger building.

There will be free gifts each day which will change day by day (until we get a complete calendar of these posted, please see the daily post of that day's gift). These will be one per person per day per location.

And for those of you hitting the big four-o this year, we think you will like the first of the discounts below, maybe even enough to 'fess up to not being 39 any longer.

Anyone who was born in 1973 or 1974 will receive a one time discount of 40 percent off the cash part of the purchase of up to 10 used items (the most expensive 10 if someone buys more than this amount) upon the presentation of a photo ID showing an appropriate birth date.

Everyone else will get a 10 percent discount off the cash part of any purchase of used books, DVD's, CD's, etc. within this time period. This last discount will apply to as many purchases made within the next 40 days.
